Beginner's Knitting Course (And Beyond!) - Plus Knitter's Help Class

Thursday Afternoons from 3:00PM to 5:00PM

Thursday Evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM

Sunday Afternoons from 2:00PM to 4:00PM

Beginner's Knitting is a 5 Week Course ($75.00 in advance), with specific projects designed to learn basic knitting skills for any beginner or returning knitter.  Students can continue weekly classes, selecting projects of their choice based on their skill level at $10 per session thereafter, payable as you go.

The Knitter's Help Class is a one time - or as many as you need - session run at the same time as the Beginner's Knitting Course to let Jean give you a hand to help current knitters learn a new technique or help you over a hurdle in your current knitting project.

The Beginner's Knitting Course is for the Absolute Beginning New Knitter or for Start Again Knitters, for those wanting to learn to knit or for those who have knitted long ago but have forgotten most of what they knew. After you have learned the basics, let Jean guide you as you move beyond into more complex projects.

Students can attend as many sessions per week as desired, but they must register for each session they wish to attend in order to maintain a comfortable number of students per session so that everyone is able to get sufficient attention for their needs.

Students will complete four projects in the course.  Project One will be a wool hotpad, Project Two will be a ribbed scarf, Project Three will be a hat with a ribbed brim, and Project Four will be a pair of fingerless mitts with a thumb gusset.  Skills learned will be the knit stitch, the purl stitch, casting on, binding off, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round and more.

You must register for your Beginner's Knitting or Knitter's Help session by emailing the teacher - jbyers@ptd.net

Baby Penguono Workshop

Friday, February 8th, 9:00AM To Noon | Cost $95.00

Class Maximum: 20 participants

Join the Penguono Posse and start your own little Penguono creation! We will begin knitting a baby sized Penguono together while learning the welt and modular knitting technique. Penguono is a colorful jacket knit with multiple strands of yarn held together so we will experiment with mixing different yarn weights and fibers. You will receive instructions prior to class to knit the first section of the baby size and then we will work the next few sections together, learning the construction techniques so you can finish the rest of the jacket on your own after the inspiring workshop. This class will give the skills needed to accomplish the adult Penguono size as well! The baby version is a great opportunity to experiment with colors and fibers before tackling the big version.

Materials: 40”/100cm US 10.5/6.5mm circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge. Bring a variety of yarn weights from fingering weight to bulky weight since we will be mixing strands together. Wool yarns recommended, but please bring other textures like mohair, alpaca, metallic/sparkly, and funky novelty yarns to take your Penguono to the next level.

Homework: Instructions for the first section will be sent for you to complete prior to attending the workshop.
